JULY 2009

Want to take a cake decorating class. I have lost my skill and want to retrieve it.

Jasmine finished EFY. She didn't want to go at first but felt very spiritual about it and is glad she attended.

On the 4th, Malcolm and I took each one of the girls on a 2 hour 'mother/father/daughter' excursion. Lizzie wanted to clothes shop at Naartjie so she got 4 dresses. Emma wanted lunch at Einsteins; she got her chocolate chip coffee cake and Ellie got breakfast at IHOP. Jasmine ended up having dinner with us the next night at Applebee's. It was fun to have just one child to focus on. I think we should do that once a month but maybe not spend so much money :)

Had a BBQ with Jennifer and Mark at their house.

Took Ellie to see my mom on her 75th birthday. She had surgery the day before so we wanted to lift her spirits. They removed the rod in her leg in hopes to heal the wound from the break. My dad seemed weak and tired. Poor guy.

Had our windows cleaned.

Ellie had her WCC. Doc heard a murmur that she didn't like. She referred us to a Cardiologist. I am not worried. I wonder why.

Looked up Ibrahima..and old friend. He owns a Massage Therapy School in Mississippi or Missouri....can't remember. Good talking with him.

Malcolm attended Girls Camp as a Priesthood leader.

Joanie and Jasmine went to court for their 'not wearing a seat belt tickets. Plead not guilty and have a new date in September.

Aunt Mary and Makayla flew into SLC on a buddy pass.

Went to the Oquirrh Mountain Temple Open House with the Bishop and his lovely wife and my buddy Lori.

After the temple, we all ate delicious ice cream and the best hot fudge ever at Leatherby's.

After ice cream someone had the bright idea of taking all the kids (7 I think) and putting them on the front porch of our friends, the Pitts and ringing the bell. When they answered (in their underwear), they told them 'our parents said we have to stay here'. The adults (us) were hiding across the street in the bushes...why was that so funny when we did it?

Spent the day on Pioneer Day with Jody and Su and Malcolm's sister. Cooked on the grill, played Settler's and had a ton of fun.

Swam a few times at our pool with Aunt Mary.

All of us went to Bear Lake and stayed in our condo/timeshare....rented SeaDoo's, 4 wheelers, swam at the pool, played one full day on the lake, watched a few movies, BBQ'd, rested, went to Raspberry Days. Want to go back again already.

Pictures to be added later

Purge of a Lifetime

For the past eighteen months, my life has been in a complete transformation so much that parts of me are unrecognizable.  This is a good thing but making monumental changes can use up a lot of energy.  I had been so focused on finding myself, creating a thriving business and building a different relationship with my kids that many things were neglected, mainly housework. After pushing hard in business, transforming my being and making a major effort to connect with my kids at a whole new level, the time had come to shift the energy of the home as well.   On June 2, we embarked on an overhaul of the upper floor.  I can't say that I was excited about it but it was time and from somewhere deep inside, I mustered up the energy to put my shoulder to the wheel and push along...for nine long and labor intensive days.  Everyone laughed at me when I scheduled 10 days for this project but as the days wore on, it was apparent that I may actually have some ...

morning walk on the beach

i am on a trip to southern and mid california for my doTERRA business to train a few leaders and teach a class.  i came a day early to take some time to get grounded and have some much needed alone time.   the hotel i am staying in has a new state of the art gym with updated modern equipment and such but i decided to ditch the cold, lifeless gym here at the hotel and at 5:40 am, drove to sunset beach to watch the sun 'rise'.   while there, i took off my running shoes (since i don't run, this made perfect sense) and walked along the shoreline for my morning exercise.  i played a bit with the surf, trying to capture my toes in the sand with my uncooperative camera.  got wet (of course).  i then collected some seashells for the girls that will surely break in my suitcase on the way home.   i was smiling from ear to ear.  i haven't enjoyed something like this for a very long time.  i sure do love coming home....  here are a few highl...

muchado about nothing

it has been over a year since i have blogged about anything.  important or otherwise.  since malcolm and i went into the business of being in business and the whole entrepreneur life, everything has changed.  we are busier than ever but not in a way that is unpleasant or displeasing.  we are enjoying the shift but change has a price.  the price for us has been how we spend our free time or lack thereof as of late. tonight i had a project to work on and i chose to watch a TV series instead.  i don't even know what the title is...something about a candle and a lark?  the bbc has great programming and while i am choosing to avoid my work (the script for a video series i am going to film tuesday) just 'being' is kind of nice for now. it is my intention to pick up some blog time in the near future as to chronicle the crazy mixed up activities of our life but until then...i'm going to sit and do nothing
